BARIATRIC PROGRAM

Bariatric Program Support Group
When:
First Thursday of every month at 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm
Where: Henrico Doctors' Hospital-Parham Campus (MOB 3 classroom)

If you have had or are planning to have a Gastric Bypass or Lap-Band at HDH, please join us for monthly meetings.

THE CANCER CENTER

Breast Cancer Support Group
When: 4th Tuesday of each month at 6:00 pm
Where: Henrico Doctors' Hospital-Forest Campus, 3rd Floor, Patient Resource Library (Room 346)

Meetings offer a traditional support group framework alternated by educational speakers. All meetings are open to any woman affected by breast cancer. No pre-registration required.

Colon and Rectal Cancer Support Group
When: 3rd Thursday of each month, 5:30 - 6:30pm
Please note: March program is at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and is on the 4th Thursday of the month
Where: Retreat Doctors’ Hospital Boardroom
(free parking available in our deck)

This group is for anyone that has been diagnosed with colon or rectal cancer and would like to get support from a group of people with similar symptoms and concerns. This group meets on a monthly basis and will provide support and educational topics and speakers. No pre-registration required.

Freedom From Smoking Class 
When:
Wednesdays at 5:30 pm for eight weeks on a revolving basis.
Where: Forest Medical Plaza, 7611 Forest Avenue, Suite 320 (near Henrico Doctors' Hospital - Forest Campus)

This is an 8-week series designed for anyone who desires to quit smoking. This program has been designed by the American Lung Association. Research has demonstrated that participating in class education and support often is more effective than trying to quit alone. Cost is $25 per person (includes guide and relaxation CD). For more information, and to find out when the next class is offered, please call one of the facilitators listed above.

Richmond Chapter of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition
When:
3rd Monday of each month at 6:00 pm
Where: Henrico Doctors' Hospital-Forest Campus, Williamsburg Room A

This local chapter of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition is open to any individual seeking to dispell the myths and misunderstanding surrounding ovarian cancer to bring greater awareness to our community at large.

Gynecological Cancer Support Group
When:
 2nd Monday of each month at 5:30 pm
Where: Henrico Doctors' Hospital-Forest Campus, Patient Resource Library, Room 346

This support group is for women with a gynecological cancer, whether undergoing treatment or post-treatment, offering a forum for support and education. The needs of the group members dictate the content of discussions. No fee and no pre-registration required.

"I Can Cope" Cancer Support Series
When:
Thursdays at 6:00 p.m., bi-yearly for 10 consecutive weeks (Spring & Fall)

Join The Cancer Center at Henrico Doctors' Hospital and the American Cancer Society in a series of discussions about cancer. Classes are free. Please contact Susan Guckenberg to determine starting date for the next series, for questions, and to register in advance.

Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Support Group
When:
2nd Friday of every month at 12:30
Where: Henrico Doctors' Hospital-Forest Campus, Williamsburg Room B

This group offers support for patients, family members and friends affected by leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma. Offered in partnership with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Meetings are faciliatated by Susan Guckenberg, LCSW. Call Debra Abney to register. No fee. Light refreshments

GENERAL SUPPORT GROUPS

Richmond Ostomy Association  
When:
Third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm (no meeting in July, August nor December)
Where: Henrico Doctors Hospital-Forest Campus, Williamsburg Room A (from the main lobby, head toward the elevators, and the Williamsburg Room A is to your left just after you pass the coffee bar)

Each month a different speaker is featured (ostomy product reps, physicians, dietician, ET nurse, psychologist, exercise instructor, etc.) or a sharing of tips session. Registration not required.

CLASSES

Pre-Op Breast Surgery Class
When:
 Every Thursday at 11:00am
Where: Henrico Doctors' Hospital-Forest Campus, 3rd Floor, Patient Resource Library (Room 346)

This class is designed for any woman and their family scheduled for a lumpectomy or mastectomy at Henrico Doctor's Hospital. Provides information, education and support to help prepare for surgery and beyond. Registration is required by calling Meg Helsley in advance.
